CBCT IMAGING (Cone Beam Computed Tomography)
Often referred to as a “3D x-ray” or a “CT scan,” cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) was used in endodontic application for the first time in 1990, and since that time has proven to be a powerful tool in diagnosis and treatment planning.
The American Association of Endodontics (AAE) and the American Academy of Oral Maxillofacial Radiology (AAOMR) have released a joint position to provide scientifically based guidelines to clinicians regarding the use of cone beam computed tomography in endodontic treatment.
